2019 - The Year Of Home Organization

It's always exciting to start a new year, we can look back on the previous year and think of all the things we accomplished. Everything we hoped to accomplish and some of our goals that carry on into the new year.

This year is a particularly exciting year for me and for anyone in the home organization industry. There's so much buzz going on right now in an industry that until recently has been flying relatively under the radar. With new shows out right now like Netfilx Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, many people are being inspired to tackle challenges in their homes that have been brewing for ages.

Here in America, we've become accustomed to a culture of accumulation, we buy what we need and we buy everything we don't need. As time has gone by we're able to pause and reflect on the purchases we've made throughout the years. In a moment of raw and brutal honesty, we ask ourselves "How much of my belongings have I actually used? How many clothes do I have that still have the tags on them? How much meaning do my possessions hold for me?"

More so than any era in history I can see the freedom that's emerging from people across the globe. People coming to the realization that their lives aren't defined by the things they possess or how big their house is. The realization that when they look back and reflect on the good times in life, it's often the experiences shared with family and friends. Places they've traveled to or experiences they've had. It's the things we cannot see that are truly special.

I'm so excited for 2019, and not because of any resolutions - I gave those up years ago. It's exciting to see people everywhere becoming aware of something bigger than themselves. Being a professional organizer and working in the homes of women affords me the opportunity help them see the benefit from analyzing their homes and their belongings. Helping them to see if what they own is serving a purpose in their life and if it holds meaning and "sparks joy".

So many people - especially women - are weighed down by their belongings and are too busy working and caring for children that they aren't able to organize their home in a way that's functional and useful for their families. Deep down they desire a home that is comfortable, relaxing, organized, and easy to maintain. After all, this is where they sleep, eat, dress, clean, work....need I say more?

This year more and more people will become aware of who professional organizers are and what exactly we do. Yes, this is a boutique type of service, and sometimes we need that in our life. Really, it's a small price to pay when you think of all the time and energy you save from not having to waste money buying things you don't need. Money spent on things you already own but can't find in your house, not to mention the price paid for storage units of forgotten belongings.

I hope any women out there who are truly in need and don't have the time or expertise to organize their house, consider giving a gift to themselves by hiring an organizing professional to organize their home. Or even that one room in your house that all the unknown goes into, or the one area that you can't seem to get a hold of. Maybe it's your laundry room, your kitchen, or home office, whatever it is, it's time to do yourself a favor and get back some sanity. That piece of you that's been nagging at your self-worth and value as a woman. We can't do everything ourselves, but we can accomplish a great deal with the help of others.
