Pre-Travel Organizing Tips

Professional Home Organizers • San Diego & Los Angeles, CA

Whenever I travel, I make a point of having my home organized and cleaned before leaving on my journey. That way when I return home feeling tired and jet-lagged—can’t wait to relax and just hop into bed. You open the door feeling RELIEVED cause your house looks AMAZING! So what are a few things you can do to organize and straighten up your home before you leave on your next trip?

Wash Your Laundry

I know this can seem like a chore, but washing your laundry means that when you return home with a suitcase full of dirty clothes, you now have clean sheets, towels, shirts, socks, and more. No rummaging through your closet or drawers frantically looking for things to wear especially when you're too tired in the first place!

Organize and Put Away Your Bathroom Clutter

Clear up the sink area by putting away your hair gel, makeup, hairspray, brushes, and jewelry. Do a thorough wipe down, stock up on the toilet paper and hand towels. Make sure it's looking fresh for your shower when you get home. Have things in place when you're ready to wash off those airplane germs and foreign bodies. Plus it always feels good to wash up in a clean shower.

Clear Out the Fridge

Make sure to use up all your perishable foods and anything that may expire while you're gone. If you aren't able to cook what's left, give it away or throw it in the trash. Old and moldy food stinks up the fridge and takes up precious space. Then when you return home and need to stock up on food for the week, you have plenty of space and know what you ACTUALLY have and need to buy. Old food can be deceptive, making you think you have items that have actually spoiled or are near their end.

These are just a few things you can do before you take your next vacation to make your return a little more pleasant. Trust me, you'll be glad you did! No more work to do, your cozy space will be waiting for you.
